Information automatically collected
In Short: Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.
We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.
Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies.
The information we collect includes:
Log and Usage Data. Log and usage data is service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information our servers automatically collect when you access or use our Services and which we record in log files. Depending on how you interact with us, this log data may include your IP address, device information, browser type, and settings and information about your activity in the Services (such as the date/time stamps associated with your usage, pages and files viewed, searches, and other actions you take such as which features you use), device event information (such as system activity, error reports (sometimes called "crash dumps"), and hardware settings).
Device Data. We collect device data such as information about your computer, phone, tablet, or other device you use to access the Services. Depending on the device used, this device data may include information such as your IP address (or proxy server), device and application identification numbers, location, browser type, hardware model, Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, operating system, and system configuration information.
Location Data. We collect location data such as information about your device's location, which can be either precise or imprecise. How much information we collect depends on the type and settings of the device you use to access the Services. For example, we may use GPS and other technologies to collect geolocation data that tells us your current location (based on your IP address). You can opt out of allowing us to collect this information either by refusing access to the information or by disabling your Location setting on your device. However, if you choose to opt out, you may not be able to use certain aspects of the Services.

We may need to share your personal information in the following situations:
Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
When we use Google Maps Platform APIs. We may share your information with certain Google Maps Platform APIs (e.g., Google Maps API, Places API). Google Maps uses GPS, Wi-Fi, and cell towers to estimate your location. GPS is accurate to about 20 meters, while Wi-Fi and cell towers help improve accuracy when GPS signals are weak, like indoors. This data helps Google Maps provide directions, but it is not always perfectly precise.
If you choose to subscribe to our blog updates, the email address you type is sent directly to HubSpot to handle that subscription. This user-initiated submission is separate from cookie permission and can be made without accepting optional services. The connection also involves the technical information needed to deliver the request. Subscribing does not authorize optional website tracking, and accepting optional services does not subscribe you to emails. To ask us to stop subscription emails, contact info@heartlandlanguage.com.
4. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?
We use necessary cookies and browser storage for website functions and to remember language and cookie choices. Optional Google Analytics remains off until you accept optional services. Our request forms, provided through HubSpot and Jotform, load whether or not you accept, because they are how you send us a request. Closing the banner, browsing or contacting us is not acceptance. You can decline or withdraw through Cookie settings in the footer without losing access to our contact page, phone (812) 499-1696 or email info@heartlandlanguage.com.
After acceptance, Google Analytics receives website-use information such as page addresses and browser or device information to measure visits and interactions. HubSpot forms on the home and quote pages, and Jotform on the client page, load whether or not you accept, because they are how you send us a request. These providers may receive technical connection information when a form loads and the information you choose to submit, and may use cookies or browser storage to deliver the form. We do not enable the HubSpot website tracker, Google signals or Google advertising-personalization features in this release. See Google, HubSpot and Jotform privacy information.
The Cookie Policy below describes the choice cookie, browser storage, daily aggregate choice counts and how to change your choice. Withdrawing permission stops future optional-service loading and collection on this website; it does not erase information already sent. Contact us for privacy requests.
5. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless otherwise required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements).
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
6. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?
In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent’s use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 18, please contact us at info@heartlandlanguage.com.
7. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.
Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section "HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?" below.
However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
To ask us to stop marketing or promotional emails, contact info@heartlandlanguage.com. We will handle your request as required by applicable law. We may still send non-marketing messages needed to respond to your requests or provide services you requested.
Cookies and similar technologies: Most Web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Services.
8. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES
A detected Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal keeps optional analytics off, even if a saved choice says accept. We do not currently respond to the separate Do-Not-Track (DNT) browser setting. You can use Cookie settings to decline or withdraw permission.
9. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have the right to request access to and receive details about the personal information we maintain about you and how we have processed it, correct inaccuracies, get a copy of, or delete your personal information. Cookie policy -
Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Heartland Interpretation and Translation Services, LLC uses cookies and browser storage on this website. Necessary storage supports website functions, language choices and privacy choices. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after acceptance. Embedded HubSpot/Jotform request forms load whether or not you accept.
Your choice
Choose Accept or Decline in the banner, or use Cookie settings in the footer to reopen and change your choice. Necessary cookies remain available. Declining does not stop you from using our contact page, phone (812) 499-1696 or email info@heartlandlanguage.com. A detected GPC signal keeps optional services off.
We remember acceptance or decline in the first-party hl_consent cookie for six calendar months from your explicit decision. Later visits do not extend that expiry. A new explicit decision replaces the choice. It applies to this browser on this host across the website’s language versions, not automatically to other devices, browsers or hosts. If the cookie is missing, invalid, expired or cleared, we ask again with optional services off. Browser restrictions may prevent a choice being remembered.
When you withdraw, we stop optional services and attempt to clear accessible Google Analytics cookies; a page reload may be needed to unload previously loaded content. This does not delete provider-held information or automatically erase information already submitted. You can also block or clear storage in your browser settings.
Daily choice totals
We maintain only aggregate daily totals of accept and decline actions, using Indianapolis calendar days. These are button-action counts, not unique visitor counts or individual consent records. A counting request contains only the action. The counter table holds the day and two totals; it does not store IP addresses, user identifiers, page addresses, language, form data or individual events.
For abuse prevention, the endpoint uses a connecting IP address temporarily in memory for rate limiting; it is not added to the counter table or logged by this application endpoint. Hosting and other service-provider processing remains separate from these totals. Counting may be unavailable without affecting your cookie choice. Automatic GPC suppression is not counted as a decline action.
Cookies and browser storage
| Item | Purpose | Duration / removal |
|---|---|---|
| hl_consent | First-party cookie remembering acceptance or decline, with decision and expiry times; no unique visitor identifier. | Six calendar months from the explicit choice, without extension on later visits. A new explicit choice replaces it; clearing cookies may remove it sooner. |
| NEXT_LOCALE | Cookie remembering the website language. | One year, unless cleared or replaced. |
| heartland-blog-subscribe-dismissed-at | Local browser storage holding the time when the blog-subscription popup was dismissed or completed. | Hides the popup for 30 days. The timestamp itself has no automatic expiry and remains until browser storage is cleared or the website removes it. |
| heartland-consent-status-v1 | Session storage holding a one-time choice-confirmation message across a page reload. | Removal is attempted when the message is read; otherwise retained for the tab session, subject to browser session restoration. |
| heartland_training_session | Necessary sign-in cookie for the separate training portal, only when signed in. | 30 days from sign-in; signing out or clearing cookies may end the session sooner. |
| _ga and _ga_6P6Y76VRTC | Google Analytics cookies used after acceptance to distinguish browser visits and maintain measurement state. | Google’s default is two years and may renew on accepted visits; browsers may shorten this. Withdrawing permission stops loading Analytics and attempts to remove accessible Analytics cookies. |
| HubSpot and Jotform embedded-form cookies or storage | Provider storage may be used when their embedded request forms load, whether or not you accept optional services. It is separate from the first-party choice cookie. | Names and durations depend on the provider and form. See the linked provider privacy information for details. |
Optional providers and separate subscriptions
After acceptance, Google Analytics measures website use. HubSpot and Jotform embedded request forms load on the pages offering them whether or not you accept. Their providers receive technical connection information and may use their own storage; submitting a form sends the information you enter. See Google, HubSpot and Jotform privacy information. The HubSpot website tracker and Google advertising-personalization features are not enabled by this release.
Questions and updates
For cookie or privacy questions, contact info@heartlandlanguage.com. We may update this policy when our practices change; the notice’s Last updated date identifies the published revision.
